Connecting Men in Pershore through community support
Pershore’s Men’s Shed was started by a group of local residents in late 2024.
We were starting with a blank piece of paper and it was a huge undertaking to create a Men’s Shed from scratch.
We could not have achieved it without help from many people and organisations.
Wychavon Community Officer – Branwen Bingle who brought the local residents together and encouraged them to create a Men’s Shed and assisted with grant applications.
Pershore Town Council – provided a Licence to use an unused and semi derelict garage on the town’s allotments.
Our funders – we have had tremendous support from local and national organisations as well as individuals and we could not have created our Shed without their help.
A special thanks to the following:
- UK Prosperity Fund – via Wychavon – funded the new workshop building
- Wychavon District Council for grants
- Worcs Prostate Cancer Support Group – donated money to buy the shipping container storage
- Friends of Pershore Hospital – who made a very generous donation at an early stage that that gave us the ability and confidence to move forward and get the workshop fit for purpose and buy equipment
- National Lottery
- Worcestershire Freemasons
- Pershore Town Council
- The Talbot and The Millers – donated proceeds from their annual cricket match
- Pershore Embroiderers
- Many individuals who donated via GoFundMe
Support in kind
- Vic Haines Transport – who moved our shipping container to our site at no cost
- Rapid Screed – who kindly laid a new floor in the Shed at no cost
- Abbey Park School – who donated work benches and tools that were no longer needed
- Pershore Hire Centre – who provided free use of a digger and some equipment at cost price
As well as funding and support in kind we have received tremendous encouragement from local people who recognise the value a Men’s Shed can bring to Pershore – thank you for your encouragement and support.
